Taming The Tongue
In Week 6 of our series “The Book of James” we continue through the Book of James with a powerful message titled “Taming the Tongue” from James 3:1–12.
James reminds us that real faith is not only seen in how we endure pressure, seek wisdom, obey God, love people, and move in faith — it is also revealed in how we speak.
Our words have direction. They can build or destroy, heal or wound, encourage or crush, bring peace or create chaos. The tongue may be small, but James says it has the power to steer lives like a rudder guides a ship — and the power to destroy like a tiny spark that sets a forest on fire.
This message challenges us to examine the condition of our hearts, because what comes out of our mouths reveals what is inside of us. We cannot bless God on Sunday and curse people on Monday. A heart filled with Jesus should sound like Jesus.
If your words have been filled with anger, gossip, negativity, criticism, or harshness, God is not just trying to change your language — He wants to heal your heart.
Because real faith does not just change how we worship.
It changes how we speak.
